I’m struggling this week to find anything of interest to tell you about because recently I seem to have been doing not a lot arty and lot of worky worky. ‘Tis said that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy and equally, it makes Jane a dull girl, so my apologies for that. The worky worky, however, is coming along well and I hope very soon to be able to reveal what I have been beavering away at over the past weeks.

In the meantime I shall just launch straight into this week’s news. Enjoy.

Daniel Price has been busy producing more of his lovely monoprints. I’ve noticed that lots of artists seem to be posting most of their work to Instagram rather than to Facebook these days and because it isn’t easy to save the pictures easily some of the best pieces don’t make it into the news anymore. Here are a couple of Daniel’s recent works which he kindly forwarded to me to share with you. Check his Instagram account out d_p_a_r_t to see more.

There are a couple of new shows opening soon – ‘Saltmother’ at the Hodgson Loom Gallery and ‘3 Contemporaries’ at The Sayle. There’s a bit of a press release about each of them so I have published them in separate posts but you can follow the links to find out more about them. Both sound amazing I think the one at The Sayle is going to be pretty special – David Gilbert, David Fletcher and Norman Sayle.

It’s been great to see so many people take up my A-Z drawing challenge with a couple more new pictures added to ‘A’ and plently of ‘B’s’. Here are a few of the  pictures from this week and of course everyone is welcome to join in at any time, especially beginners. For anyone who missed the thinking behind this, the idea is that with 16 hours of application in whatever you choose to do you should see a noticeable improvement. So if you haven’t had a go yet my ‘C’ picture will be pinned to the top of the Facebook page this evening.

The Creative Network has put out a call to artists for an event on Sunday 24th June 2018, Midday – 4.00pm.
“You are cordially invited to display your ART IN THE GARDEN to raise funds for The John Nicholson Foundation.
At Thie ny Chibbyr, Surby Road, Surby IM9 6TA

Please contact Mike Ingram on mikeingram@manx.net or Facebook.com/Michael.Ingram for further information before 18th May.”

New Shorts:

I’m always on the lookout for new artists and Sarah Cox recently sent me some of her pet portraits – you can see more of her work on her website: www.sarahmcoxart.wixsite.com/sarahmcoxart

Another artist I’ve been following recently is Ruth Devine Design. I’m looking forward to seeing more of her work if it’s all as good as this cute Mother’s Day card.

Here are a couple more fab pictures from Ellen Scott, who I featured a couple of weeks ago…. ‘Blood Bath Koi’ and ‘Winds of Gold’.

And I had to share this fabulous picture of Simon Buttimore by Nicola Kinley. Isn’t it great?
