It’s a pretty quiet time of year for exhibitions while the galleries take stock, do renovation work and prepare for the year ahead. There is one gallery, however, the Hodgson Loom in Laxey, which uses this time of year to show its annual open art exhibition. This year the theme is ‘Space’ and there is a wondrous variety of work on show. Judging has been taking place over the last week and next Saturday, 27th January at 3.00pm there will be a gathering of artists, friends, family and anyone else who would like to go along to the prize giving ceremony.
As ever, it’s a great opportunity to meet the artists in person and I do recommend that you go along if you can. Here are a few of the entries.
I’m very excited to show you at long last the logo Adam Berry has created for The Engine Ltd. More information to follow as we are currently busy getting ready to rock….. watch this space as there’s lots of exciting stuff coming soon! We’re delighted with the logo – thanks Adam!
Brook Wassall published a second Dark Skies post on Gef the Mongoose, this time covering some of the equipment and settings he uses to capture his amazing night time images. Gef the Mongoose is worth a visit any time as they publish all kinds of fun local articles, but it’s particularly great to see them supporting the arts. Keep up the great work Gef!
Manx Pets in Pencil artist, Chrissie Moss, is busy working towards an Exhibition at the Erin Arts Centre for the 44th Mananan International Festival of Music and the Arts which is this summer, 16th-30th June 2018. The exhibition, “Characters, Things and Places” will be in the Sir James Mellon Gallery and is sponsored by Port Erin Commissioners. The show is on throughout June and the gallery is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 10:30am to 4:30pm and during events.
Andy Noble, aka NEB Comics, posted up his latest cartoon with a very Manx theme. Do you say hello to the fairies? I ALWAYS do 🙂
The Isle of Man Drawing Club had a full house again for its first event of the year held at Noa Bakehouse. I did’t go along this time but here are some of the pics that Kim shared from the evening. I love the variety of styles, it’s so interesting to see how different people approach the same subject.
