Chris Killip Exhibition – Sponsorship now open

Manx National Heritage is currently seeking a sponsor or joint sponsors for a new exhibition by Manx born photographer Chris Killip.

Chris Killip

Chris Killip is a distinguished photographer, well known for his gritty black and white images of people and places.  He is renowned and recognised for his pictures of local communities, in particular the local Manx population.

He is the recipient of numerous international awards, has exhibited all over the world, written extensively and appeared on both radio and television. His local work includes his book The Isle of Man:  A book about the Manx which was published in 1980 and his new book ‘Isle of Man Revisited’ is now on sale.

Chris Killip’s work is highly prominent, has featured in the Tate Gallery and received extensive media coverage, most recently featuring in Financial Times Magazine and Daily Mail.

The exhibition on the Isle of Man represents a unique opportunity for local companies and will open at the Manx Museum on 7th May 2016 to 30th July 2016.

The Directory

The Isle of Man is teaming with talented people but presently there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to find them!

I’ve decided to set up a dedicated, directory-style website for Artists, Sculptors, Photographers and anyone else in the creative world where each contributor can showcase their work and provide their contact details so that it’s a ‘one-stop-shop’ for anyone who might be looking for local work or a particular style for a commission piece.

Each contributor will have their own page which will have up to six photographs of their work, contact details, a link to their website if they have one and a biography of up to 800 words. For those of you who don’t currently have a website then this is a great way to be able to get yourself a personal web page something like the mock-up shown below. Kathryn Mitchell Website

Listing is free!

Once you have submitted your details to me using the form below, I will set up the page and get you to confirm your approval before making it public. Any changes (such as address or contact details) will be free of charge, however, if you want to update the photographs or your biography occasionally there will be a small administration fee (which I expect will be less than £10, depending on how much demand there is for updates as it is quite time consuming). The fee can be paid by Paypal. This will help to fund the cost of maintaining the website. There may be some advertising although this will be kept to a minimum to ensure that it does not detract from the main purpose of the site which is to showcase your work. There will be a blog which will be be used to advertise exhibitions, events, workshops and so on. If you are organising an event all you will need to do is email me with ‘ready to publish’ text and whatever images you have to help publicise the event. The success of the website will be greatly dependent on its contributors – you. To make it worthwhile and the place everyone goes to when seeking out individuals in our talented community there has to be a lot of ‘buy in’. The more people who are listed on the site, the more worthwhile it will be to the users –  i.e. your customers and potential customers. To submit your details please download and complete the attached form here: Artist Information Form and return it to me at If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch, and please share this form as widely as possible. Looking forward to working with you all and to building a really comprehensive and useful directory which will be of benefit to all. Jane
