I am a mixed media textile artist living on a farm on the Isle of Man.
I studied at the Isle of Man College and obtained City and Guilds Part 1 and the Diploma in stitched textiles. Since then I have exhibited in many venues around the Island and have won several prizes.
The garden I have established on one of our fields has been developed by myself as a forest garden where I grow many fruit and nut trees as well as herbs and unusual vegetables. It is a haven for wildlife and my peaceful retreat where I use the plants, birds and butterflies and other creatures as the inspiration for my work. I take many photographs and some of these have other media mixed with them such as paint and stitch. The garden also provides me with the natural dyes which I then use to colour wool from locally bought fleeces. Some of the other fibres I use are bamboo, cashmere, alpaca, nettle along with more unusual ones.
I love to experiment by combining different media to give a multi layered effect. My work is mainly sold through the exhibitions but also privately and I do talks on the subject matter that I research for the theme of an exhibition. One of my pleasures is interacting with the public at events and trying to encourage others to paint, stitch or just have great fun being creative.
